Abstract:
Disorder: As tens of millons of people move from the countryside, urbanization in China is advancing at a breakneck pace, and its major cities teeter on the brink of mayhem. Weaving together footage from a dozen amateur videographers, Huang Weikai's one-of-a-kind documentary captures the anarchy, violence, and seething anxiety. As a man dances in the middle of traffic, another threatens to jump from a bridge before dozen of onlookers; pigs run wild on a highway while dignitaries swim in a polluted river; police raiding a supermarket find it full of frozen bear paws and live anteaters. Floating: Yang is a vagrant singer from China's rural Henan region: he earns his living by singing in the subways of urban business centers. Every day he has to avoid being detained by local police, bribe security guards and squeeze out other artists. In the thirtieth year of his life, Yand considers going back to his hometown to marry his first girfriend, while old and new lovers make his life even more chaotic. Container.
